Tired of the loneliness of single life and far too anxious to put yourself out there in real life, with REAL people, you finally gave in and created a Tinder account. Even though you'd heard the horror stories about the quality of man you'd find on it. Even though just about every one of your friends warned you against it. You just had to try something new, because clearly whatever you'd been doing so far to attract a mate was working about as well as a songbird with a sore throat. It'd been far too long since you'd last dated, and you figured it was time to take the plunge and put yourself on the market.

So you bit the bullet and created a profile. Some nice (and fairly modest) pics of you and a sweet little profile with some information about you and you'd officially started online dating. You were quite happy with your succinct digital representation of yourself, and while you weren't exactly expecting to get blown up with DMs you were pretty hopeful that at least a couple eligible bachelors would come knocking at your notifications. Unfortunately, as you'd come to find was the terrible reality of dating apps, literally none of your matches were what you were hoping for.

The only attention you seemed to be able to attract was the most sexual, misogynistic, degrading messages you could imagine. You weren't naive enough to think that a couple wouldn't slip through the cracks, but all you could find was abhorrent message after abhorrent message, each one somehow worse than the last. What made matters worse was that you couldn't even do the sensible thing and block them all. Some kind of morbid curiosity took hold of you and, despite your every neuron screaming at you not to, you couldn't help but get enough butterflies (or just pure, immense desperation) to reluctantly reply, despite your complete and utter disdain for the disgusting messages.
