Outside of the Ear Hygiene

I have this situation where, when I am showering—after being exposed to warmth and moisture—I gently run the edge of my fingernail along the outside of my ear, and it collects what looks like small rolls of filth. My question is: instead of using my fingernail, is there a designated tool (not a washcloth or a Q-tip) that can be used to clean the exterior of the ear and effectively reach the ridges and harder-to-clean areas? This only seems to happen around my ears. If I gently scrape other areas of my body, there are no visible rolls of grime.
