Career growth from AI boom but against it at the same time, looking for perspective.

Will try and keep this short!

I do work connected to Data Center design, and have since before the AI boom. Prior to AI, it was a non issue. Didn't think twice about it, as long as the internet exists there are going to be data centers.

With the AI boom my career and compensation accelerated quickly, and I have certainly taken advantage. The surge has also led to the change in work environment, data centers are in the news every day now.

I agree with the majority of the pushback and demand for more regulation and legislation (specifically around resource consumption).

It's a weird place to be in. I'm benefiting immensely from an industry shift that I honestly believe needs stricter oversight as a result of the shift.

Before AI it was infrastructure for saving photos, sending emails, streaming and banking. Now its 10x the resource demand for a product I just don't support.
