Updates and system data for macbook air m4
Hello fellow macbook air fans,/users
Got my first ever Apple devise, an macbook air m4, 16 GB and 256 GB. The current storage status is: macOS 24.89 GB, System data 59.21 GB, Applications 27.72 GB (mainly MS Office), Bin 4.37 GB, Documents 3.87 GB, iCloud 10.3 MB, Photos 18.4 MB.
This leaves me with about 124 GB free space. Contacted Apple and they were able to help reduce System data to 56 GB (from 59 GB).
I want to use this for as long as it works (about 7 years) without lags (mainly MS Office, Zoom/teams meetings, office work etc). I am concerned that over this time horizon Apple macOS updates/System data could consume all the free space and a time would come when it would stop updating due to low free space (even if I store all my personal data on cloud).
My question to long term Apple users is, what size are Apple macOS updates over a period of 7 years (Apple customer care has declined to comment on this)? How big are the updates generally? Would I struggle with space for Apple macOS updates over the period? or am I safe for this period?
Thanks
