Having anxiety about my CT scan that is coming up after finding out I had a mass in my liver
On Monday Dec.1st I had an ultrasound done and they found I had a 6.6cm mass on my liver and wanted me to do a CT scan so I made an appointment for Tuesday Dec.9th and they are doing a chest/abdomen/pelvic and I am so scared of my mass and so scared of them finding anything else. I have terrible health anxiety and I’ve just been in waiting mode but I am also terrified about my results coming back as something being wrong. I obviously am hoping for the best but my brain goes to worst case scenarios.. I researched liver masses and I guess they are more common than people think and are normally benign but hearing you had a mass is absolutely terrifying so of course I am spiraling. I’ve never had IV contrast for a scan so that is also spiking my anxiety since I don’t know what that sensation is like and the unknown scares me. I’m exhausted from all this anxiety and don’t know how to calm myself. I try distracting myself but I’m so fixated on my health that it’s making everything challenging. I hate anxiety controlling me but I don’t want anything to be wrong with me.. my mom passed in 2023 from a brain bleed and after she passed it spiked my health anxiety so much more. Has anyone else been in this situation where they found a mass and how did you handle it?
