The Mimic
(This might be closer to themed content, as it's more of a journal entry than an ad. I'll use the Wolf flair just in case)
I am not a wolf. I'm more furtive; more insidious. I don't simply hunt, provide, and protect. I change my colors and shape to fit the perception of my prey. Perhaps I'm a kind father, or a cruel master. Maybe I'm a savage predator or a soft companion.
Do you love what I present to you? Do you like the Badness that I have within? Then I'll gladly be bad. I'll be sick and depraved, and we'll make each other worse until the shame eats one of us.
Do you have mixed feelings and stronger morals? I'll tell you I feel the same and have integrity. I'll tell you I'm trying to be a better man and we could be good for each other.
Maybe both are true at one time or another, but neither is the whole truth. What I really am is the Mimic. Like the species of octopus in the deep sea, I'll make myself look like what you want or what feels safe. You're prey to be deceived and to validate whatever form I've decided to take.
I'll sink my teeth in and shape myself around you so you won't leave. I'll be what you think you want or need. Just don't leave, not again.

Disagreement (Updated prompt when mods?): Something that comes to mind as an "impasse" is my relationship with religion throughout my teen years. When I was fourteen or so, I actually took the time to read the Bible after about 4 years of going to church regularly with my mom. It became pretty clear early on that the way I interpreted things and the questions I asked were "wrong" when I enquired about things like the differences in the Old and New Testament Gods or Jesus' teachings being very contradictory to what sermons warp them into.
Nobody engaged with my questions and asked for uncurious faith from me, so I stopped asking the questions and found myself peeling away from faith. I've pretended to have belief and similar beliefs to my family for at least 15 years now. It's the path of least resistance.
