Girlfriend broke up as my family is poor.

My dad owns a small tea shop on the highway near Up. I have studied in government school. A Bengali family had suffered an accident on the highway in which my father helped and they out of gratitude decided to fund my education till graduation.

I graduated in 2019 and since then working in a large IT firm in Hyderabad. I started dating this girl in my office in 2021. She was the one who had proposed. I liked her and from day1 I told her the truth that I am from extremely poor background. Although now we have a house in the village with TV and one Ac, we didn't even have electricity growing up.

We have been discussing marriage for the last 1 year and all her wedding and honeymoon plan involves a lot of money. I have spent 20 lakhs to renovate my home and I send some money home each month. I have 15 lakhs savings including mutual fund. I cannot afford such an expensive marriage.

She also wanted reception in or around Noida and not our village. I said no and made a budget of 8 lakhs for wedding and 2.5 lakhs for honeymoon.

She decided to break up. We are both working and earning well. We have the whole life to ourselves. You dated a guy for 4 years knowing his father earns 5000 a month. And then break up with me just like that ?!

How is this fair. I am hurt and just can't get over it.
