Dobhoff Tube Insertion today

Doctor ordered dobhoff tube today for my pt who hasn’t been eating. I go in there and insert the tube without much problem. We place order for x-ray confirmation. X-ray comes back and can’t even visualize dobhoff. Dr like super briefly took a look and said to just take it out and put in a new one. Dr came to bedside for rounds and I asked her if she’s taken a good look at the abdominal xray because it looked off lol. She pulls it up and is like WHO TOOK THIS PICTURE LMFAO. Apparently the xray was just not of the right area of the abdomen at all. She said to please tell the next xray tech to aim higher so we can assess tube placement.

So I put in the next one no real problem. Xray tech comes up and I very gently was like uhhhh could we possibly get the upper abdomen this time?

She said “I know I’m sorry it was actually my first one ever"

I kept my composure in front of her but i swear to God that sent me in to orbit 😂😂😂

Good news is that the DHT was in the right place after the second xray.

If that specific xray tech or any other xray tech out there is reading this, I mean no hate or malice, everybody’s gotta learn. It just gave me a good laugh on an otherwise very stressful day
