A Survival Guide to SameGrassButGreener. What are your dos and don'ts?
Hi fresh meat. Welcome to your handy dandy SameGrassbutGreener Survival Guide. In this post, and in the comments below, we will be going over things you absolutely should and should not do in order to survive on this sub.
Lets begin:
Dos:
-
Ask people what it’s like living in a certain city, or even in smaller towns or rural areas.
-
Ask questions about places beyond just the USA. A lot of people seem to appreciate this.
-
Ask reasonable questions that are realistic. Asking “What’s a city where it’s walkable everywhere in the south that gets a lot of snow and has great public transit” is probably not going to yield the best results.
-
If someone posts facts about rankings or other stuff with objective evidence, simply accept it and move on. It’s not worth arguing over anyways and arguing will not change facts.
-
Make an effort to guide someone in the right direction and feel free to speak your mind if you think a place might be good for them.
Don'ts:
- Don’t say anything bad about SoCal, Philly, San Francisco, Chicago, NYC, or anywhere in Texas or Florida. You will be hunted for sport.
2.Don’t say anything good about SoCal, Philly, San Francisco, Chicago, NYC, or anywhere in Texas or Florida. You will be hunted for sport in the afterlife.
-
Don’t hunt someone down in the comments just because you don't like their opinion about a city.
-
Don’t post city rankings, or anything that talks about the global rankings of cities. Yes, the rankings are true and what should be relied upon, but many people in here do not care about them and will turn them into a competition or find a way to deny them.
-
Don’t turn the comment section into a war where you argue over which city is better, cooler, more important, more famous or whatever else. This is a subreddit meant to help people find a new place to move to, not a highschool.
Obviously, if you can't tell by now, most of this is just good fun, but for those of you who have been on here for a while, what are your dos and don'ts?
