First car recommendations

Passed my test last week, looking at buying a first car. by budget is £3.5k max. I have my eye on a citroen ds3 dstyle plus, 2012 with 30k miles and it costs 3k, but I have heard really awful things about the car on reddit and it is putting me off buying it. The best thing about it was that the insurance was 2.8k for the year without black box. Anyone got any recommendations for anything else which is similar price range, power and will have fairly similar prices for insurance?
