Fistulotomy: There is hope

For anyone about to get a fissure repair/fistulotomy:

I feel like in this thread there’s tons of people talking about excruciating recoveries that last months. This is just a reminder that this is because the people who had good recoveries tend to wipe their hands clean of this thread and kick rocks.

I had my lay open fistulotomy and fissure repair on the 4th. It’s now the 7th. I was incredibly afraid of the expected pain I’d have. The first 8 hours post-op, it was completely numb down there. I even had a BM 3 hours after, felt nothing. The only crazy drainage I had was for 5 hours post op. Day 2, had absolutely no pain, just mild soreness. Day 3 I was out all day running errands; I had 2 BMs, and honestly they sucked, but it was the same pain I was dealing with before. The pain subsided after 30 mins. Considering they carved my bumhole open, I think it’s a win.

There is hope for an easy recovery. Just letting y’all know.
