Refused entry

I just flew in from Vancouver Canada to Bangkok and was refused entry into Bangkok. They refuse me because they asked me my purpose for travel and I said tourism and Muay Thai. Apparently you now need a special visa. If you mention the word Muay Thai, they now have me in a detention room and want me to pay for my own ticket back to Canada tomorrow. Is there any way around this or am I really screwed?
