Hi all,

I have 2 older plecos and a younger male one. I bought a little pleco tunnel and now I have out of control breeding. Every week or so new miles of eggs are laid, and he normally babysits 2 pulled of eggs at a time, which hatch after a few days.

It seems when a female wants to lay eggs again she eventually forces her way into the tunnel and I think eats some of the babies and lays a new pile of eggs. A day or so later the other lays a pile of eggs. the most ive seen is 3 piles. Each 30+ eggs.

So I put the tunnel and male and 3ggs in a net cage i user to isolated fish or babies.

Last night a female

To keep some babies alive and stopore beingwas hanging around outside the net and looking big.. they get bigger and bigger as they breed. I thought all was well.

We checked the cage just after timbering the light off.

I can't believe the female climed up the edge, into the air, then into the cage. Then back out again over night, leaving a pile of eggs behind. Attached are pics of the area she claimed over to get to the male. And a pic of her hours before doing it, between the cage and the glass.

These things are insane. If I made an effort to keep all the babies, it'd have to be over 100 per month at the very last.

All due to a happy tank and most importantly a terra cotta little pleco tube hand made by pleco experts.

It is just mad.

Pleco females are sex mad
