Haunted by my (26f) own name
My mother was the one who named me, and my name is very bad. My father had left my mom at the time of my birth for another woman, and she was very saddened and named me after her suffering. My name literally translates to: Mother is the most important.
I understand her suffering, but why does she have to use me to express her anger and frustration?
I have a bachelor's and a master's degree from abroad (parents never paid for my education; I always won scholarships), and at this point, it is basically impossible to change my name. It will be too much of a hassle to do it with my current line of work.
It is like a ghost that haunts me. And I constantly refuse to be defined by it. I feel like my whole life, I have been haunted by and struggling against my own name. It's a painful and lonely thing that no human should experience.
