Possible to land a job from overseas on a 485 visa??
Hey guys I am currently going through a dilemma. I have a 6 month fixed term contract offer from a startup company in Australia however it is most likely that they will not be converting me full time after that as they said “they cannot give me a guarantee even if my performance is good”. I also have a full time offer in my home country and it is definitely a lot more stable and i get full time employment benefits.
I do want to move back to Australia in the future however the uncertainty of the contract offer is really messing with me. My parents are not read to support me financially whatsoever so if anything goes wrong with the contract job and/or if I cannot land something again in Australia after the 6 months has elapsed, I would struggle to survive and start all over again in my home country. The full time offer I have secured in my home country is very good and a big company and rejecting them now would mean I cannot come back.
On the other hand, I can play it safe and take the full time role however I do know a lot of companies in Australia require final interviews to be conducted in person so even if I end up reaching the final interview stage I’d have to go back just to give an interview that I do not know I am going to get??? This seems really annoying… is there any way that I can secure an offer letter from overseas (given that I am on a 485 visa) or do you think I would have to go to Australia to give my final interview?
For context, I am in the data science/tech/fintech industry. Are there any companies that would give offers without taking any in-person interviews or what is a smart way to negotiate that they hold interviews online for the entire hiring process?
Any help or guidance would be appreciated. Please keep in mind that I have to finance myself and do want to live in Australia in the future.
