I'm poor at making friends

I'm a very quiet, introverted and awkward person.

I'm a university student and I realised how lonely I really am. Most of the students from my class are chinese and form their own chinese gang since it's easy for them to speak their language with each other. I feel like a floater friend most times, so I resort to going out joining as a committee member for my uni events to meet a variety of people.

I meet a few girls. We talk for a bit, we swap instagram, then I see them going back to their own friend group later. I don't feel myself progressing at all. I joined one committee event last year and this year too. All in the hopes of making friends.

But it happened all over again. Met two girls, swapped instagram, but they always go back to their own friend group. Once our event was over, they disappeared with their friends. Only one person I bumped into from last year's event recognised me and said hi, but she was busy with her own friend and went separate ways after.

After my job as a committee member ended, I was free to enjoy the event (culture festival event) but I just felt lonely and pointless walking around aimlessly.

I ended up sitting alone in the cafeteria, which was packed with students with their own friends. I sat on my chair just tired and asking myself if I wasted my day doing all this to make friends that never would happen.

I really am poor at this.
