Pending direct deposit

What does it mean when the interac e transfer I sent is currently pending direct deposit?

I sent an interac e transfer to someone as a payment and I have to send them a black receipt but I haven't received that yet. It's been a few hours since I've sent the e transfer and the seller is telling me to cancel it but there is no option to do so. Will I have to call EQ bank to cancel the transfer?

btw the receiver has auto deposit on so I thought the e transfer would go through quickly.
