Tired of the stigmas
I started at college recently and shared with some new friends that I have ADHD. Recently, they come to me saying things like “they need adderall”, jokingly but still very uneducated because even with stimulants, the ADHD mind doesn’t perform at an average level, and things like wanting to get an ADHD script so they can get college accommodations. The other day, during a lecture about ADHD a student made a comment that kids with ADHD don’t really need stimulants. LOLLLLLLLLL She clearly did not read the chapter. It really gets under my skin sometimes. This is something that has impacted me my entire life, and has been truly debilitating. It is not a free pass. I’m so tired of this stigma. Sometimes I wish they could live a day in my life so they could understand why we get accommodations and why we have to take medication. I’m sorry for sounding so bitter I just feel very misunderstood sometimes
