🏨 How to actually get the most value out of your Marriott Bonvoy points

💳 Points & Perks Hub

Hey everyone. I just wanted to share some quick tips for booking Marriott Hotels with points!

🏨 5th night free = the #1 Bonvoy sweet spot (in my opinion)
This is the biggest perk in the program. When you book 5 nights on points, Marriott automatically gives you the cheapest night for free.

  • It usually works out to about 20% off your stay.
  • If you were planning a 4-night trip, it’s almost always worth adding a 5th night because the free night offsets the extra cost.

📅 Play around with dates
Marriott uses dynamic pricing, so the point cost jumps all over the place depending on demand.

  • Use the “Flexible Dates” search — it makes it super obvious which nights are cheaper.
  • Keep an eye out for PointSavers, which are basically discounted award nights.

✈️ You can also turn Marriott points into airline miles
This is one of the most underrated parts of the Bonvoy program. Marriott lets you transfer points to around 40 different airlines.

  • Most transfers work out to 3 Marriott points → 1 airline mile.
  • When you transfer 60,000 points at once, many airlines give you a 5,000-mile bonus.
  • United is the best deal — you get a 10,000-mile bonus for each 60k you transfer.

This can be a great option if you’re trying to top up an account for a specific flight redemption.

Quick takeaway

If you want pure value, booking 5-night hotel stays with points is the easiest win. If hotels aren’t on your radar right now, transferring points to airline partners — especially United — is a surprisingly solid backup plan.
