UPDATE: My friend got mad when I invited my partner to the party.

Half of the commenters were right about this situation, and honestly, I shouldn’t have been so naive. I thought our four years of friendship meant something, but wow, was I wrong. Basically, I finally got a call back from him, and he told me to meet him at a local place, very public. The conversation was good at first. He asked me about my day, and I did the same. But when I asked him about his day, it was like a switch flipped. He suddenly seemed distant and vague. He said, “The plus one was meant for people we actually know, y’know?” Nowhere did it say that, and I asked him why it bothered him so much (he has a girlfriend). That’s when he just popped off. “Does it look like I want to be friends with a low-value woman?” I asked him what the actual fuck he meant by that, and he started saying something about me being a whore who’s “actively on Tinder.” Mind you, I met my partner on Tinder and deleted it as soon as we started getting serious. I honestly can’t remember everything that was said because I was so enraged. I thought the person I’d known for four years respected me. After he blew up on me, a crowd gathered around us and people were trying to calm the situation. I felt so embarrassed and disappointed. Why me? What did I do so wrong?

I left.

And now, while I’m typing this, he just texted me confessing his feelings for me and saying he’s “deeply sorry.” I’m honestly in awe of what the hell happened today.

Half of my friends won’t talk to me and his girlfriend is berating me.

How do I fix this mess?
