Shot In The Dark - Any Photography People Able to Do Me A Solid?

Hi friends,

I'm going to try and avoid having this be a really long story, but my gf's birthday is right around the corner, and shes moderately depressed about her age. I have this photography trip planned for the both of us that I know shes wanted to do for years.

As a bonus, I snagged an ef 24-70 f/2.8 mk I dirt cheap for her today. Even if its just the mk I, I know for a fact she fantasized about a lens upgrade like that.

One small hitch, it has the communication 01 error. Fortunately, I have a fair amount of experience with lens repair. Part of the reason I got it cheap was that issue, but, also, I know I'm able to get it fixed up and give the inside a cleaning if it happens to need it.

The issue, though, is I wildly underestimated shipping times for the ribbon to get here. I know its unlikely but I'm trying to do what I can and at least make an attempt to find one locally so I could (ideally) have it good to go tomorrow or Monday in the time for the surprise.

So, I know this is a shot in the Dark, but I wanted to ask if any photography people happen to have a broken/for parts copy of this lens lying around? Honestly, all I need is that ribbon. I'd be happy to seperate out the rest for you to sell yourself, I saw the aperture ring sell for $70 on Ebay this evening.

I would also be extremely happy to repay you in some sort of way that would convey my extreme appreciation. Do you have a lens with mold or haze that needs cleaned? Have you been thinking about building a PC? If you supply the parts I'd be happy to build it. Hell, pretty much anything else I, or you, could think of, I'd be thrilled to do to return the favor.

I know the chances of this are low/none. But, I wanted to at least explore every opportunity, you know? I want to make this birthday a special one, and if I ask get my hands on one of these ribbons, it would really put this over the top for her. 💜
