Sole marketer at a B2B software services company need guidance
Hi everyone, I’m currently the only marketing person at a B2B software services company. The company has been around for 10 years, but formal marketing only started about 6 months ago.
Before this role, I worked in a B2C product company, so most of my experience is in product-led, consumer-focused marketing. This is my first time handling B2B tech/services marketing, and honestly, I’m still figuring out what really moves the needle here.
Right now, I’m expected to:
Build marketing from scratch
Support sales with leads and brand presence
Decide priorities (content, outbound, positioning, LinkedIn, website, case studies, etc.)
Do this alone, without a structured playbook
I’d love advice on:
What should a solo marketer prioritize in a B2B software services company?
What has actually worked for you in early-stage or low-marketing-maturity B2B companies?
Any frameworks, resources, or mistakes to avoid would be super helpful.
Thanks in advance really looking to learn from people who’ve been there.
