Denied Ammo Purchase

Hello everyone,

I’d like to know if you can please give me some insight on an issue I had at a local Bass Pro Shops in Irvine, CA today.

As the title says I went to buy some ammo for a firearm I already have. I was asked if the weapon had been purchased within the last 5 five years (it had). After a few seconds he turns the monitor over and shows me that my purchase was denied. I saw my address was current. He directed to create a CFARS account and mentioned that I might need to update some information.

I mentioned that I currently have a firearm that is on the 10 day hold period for DROS. He said that might be the reason why but it could be the address as well.

I’m sorry if this is a dumb question but I looked it up online and couldn’t find a clear answer.

Does having a firearm in the DROS process prevent me from buying ammo?

Or was this transaction denied due to outdated addresses? I would think the original firearm purchase from a few days ago would have been denied but the clerk had me update some information when I was making the purchase.
