Trying to find name of local band from 90s

Okay, this is a longshot, but I keep thinking about this random memory. Back when I was pretty young (guessing it was the late 90s?), I saw a local band performing at a bookstore. I remember really liking them, and my parents bought me their CD. I can't remember their name, but I remember they had a song with lyrics like "clear the smoke, she's gone, clear the smoke she fades away."

I realize this isn't a lot to go off of, but I would be so relieved if someone can help me figure this out!
