What is a good starter camera?

(1) Budget, country, and currency: I’m in the US. We use the United States Dollars. I’m shooting for no more than roughly $300.

(2) What equipment, if any, you have now and why is it no longer meeting your needs? I do not have any equipment at all. I am just now starting.

(3) What kinds of subjects do you intend to shoot? I specifically want to shoot cars but am looking for a camera that will capture both cars and people.

(4) Is it primarily for photography, videography, or both? It will be primarily photography, I am not interested in videography.
