I can't move on
I was broken up with by my best friend 5 weeks ago after over 5 years together. Every day is miserable. Every week that passes, a new wound opens up. I am unemployed as I had plans to move in with him after over 2 years of long distance, and I have zero motivation to get a job locally. I wanted to finally live with him. Getting a job here feels like closing the door and throwing away the key. I am really struggling to function. I can barely sleep or get out of bed. This year, I went from employed to unemployed, in a long term relationship with the love of my life to heartbroken and single, and I feel like I have nothing. All of the dreams I was working towards died this year. I feel like I'm starting over completely from ground zero.
How am I supposed to move on? I still keep hoping he changes his mind and realizes how special our relationship was. I keep hoping he will regret it and miss me. I know it isn't healthy. I know I need to live and make decisions in my best interest.
But sometimes I feel like the only thing that would make me feel better is being able to hold him again. Him changing his mind. I know I need to learn to let go, but I don't know how to stop hoping. If anyone has any tips or advice, it would really be helpful. Every day is so hard.
