How to adjust safety stop on this shower valve...
TLDR; version....
Any clue as to how to get more range out of this shower valve stop limit? I've done Moens Deltas, and even a Kohler two with no problem. At first blush, this looked as easy as sliding the red piece out beyond the gear tines, rotating it a bit counterclockwise, and reinserting it. Unfortunately, it's all one piece and rotating it such that the limit moves on the open valve side likewise moves where the limit is on the closed valve side. If I move it counter clockwise, I reduce the overall range since the closed side will hit the physical close point for the valve, but if I go any further counterclockwise, then I move the limit on how hot comes in, but I also prevent the valve from fully closing. I'm hoping I'm missing something basic. I would look it up, but the valve is completely unmarked and I can't find any videos or other docs that show me a similar valve to go off of.
Some additional context/info:
- Any sink in the house - including in the same bathroom - can easily go beyond the level of hot we can put hour hand under.
- This shower varies between being either pegged or near pegged to get a warm enough shower to sometimes being pegged but only providing something barely warm enough to get in and take a quick shower.
- The markings on the cover show it as fully off at 9 O'Clock (which it is), but with an implied valve range to as far as 9 O'Clock, but it pegs at 7 O'Clock.
- If I remove the stop-limit, I can open the valve further and get more hot water, but that isn't a way I'm going to leave it beyond the test I did to validate that assumption.
Any guidance on how to get more adjustment range out of this is greatly appreciated.
NOTE: The photo showing the valve arm overlapping the d in Cold is where the max hot water is currently sitting. As much I know it logically should go further, when I look at the plastic piece, the angles of it do not appear to physically allow for even the prospect of more room. I find myself wondering if there were actually a few such pieces included with the faucet when it was installed and you just picked the one with the range desired. If so, I have no idea where to get replacements that would add more range (the one in there is all we have).
