Am I giving the algorithm too much metadata and confusing it?!

I’ve come across a few channels in my niche with pretty mediocre content. No hashtags, no descriptions, no pinned comment, and they’re still outperforming me. I usually get 70%+ stay to watch and over 100% retention. I optimize titles, keywords, long descriptions, hashtags, pinned comments, even video tags. However, I grow slower.
