Gay life in college

Hi so I’m a gay guy who’s going to college next year, probably uiuc, uic, or georgia tech, so champaign, chicago, or atlanta. How easy is it to date in college as a gay guy in these cities? Ik chicago will be pretty easy, but also I’m talking about people in the universities. Is it as easy as downloading hinge or grindr (though I’d prefer more traditional dating) and how easy/common is it to… do stuff in the dorms? Do queer couples meet spontaneously often? Also I’m planning to be a mechE major so how much does that destroy your social/dating life? Side note, and kinda weird, how true is that thing of straight people experimenting in college cuz I’m tryna reach a wide array of guys and ngl a lot of the hot guys happen to be straight/closeted. Lmk how likely my dreams are to be crushed, thx
