TRS Yucatán Review

Resort Review

I am absolutely horrified by what my family and I experienced at TRS Yucatán Resort. A young woman came to us after what appeared to be a violent sexual assault. She was injured, terrified, and her clothes were torn. We brought her into our room for her safety — and shortly after, the man who attacked her came to our door and tried to break in.

We called reception and our butler repeatedly. No one answered. No help came.

I had to sneak out the back door and run barefoot to the lobby to get assistance, terrified for the girl and for my family still in the room. When I reached the lobby, the manager (Oscar) spoke to me with a rude, dismissive attitude and repeatedly told me to “calm down.” When I explained that a girl had been raped, and he actually questioned me on if I was friends with her, why did that matter? Even made me explain “what I meant by rape.”

I asked him to escort me back to the room because the attacker was still trying to force his way in. He acted as if I was inconveniencing him. When he saw the young woman, instead of showing concern or urgency, he talked down to her, asked if the man was her boyfriend, and implied she must have done something to provoke him. It was unbelievable.

He told us we were “making matters worse” when all we were trying to do was keep her safe. He claimed he spoke to the attacker and that the man “promised he wouldn’t do it again,” then told the girl she needed to go back to her room. She refused, understandably terrified.

At this point, the young woman had no phone to contact her mother. We let her use my mom’s phone to call her family. Her mother told us that the resort had kicked her and the attacker out at 2:30 AM, leaving her alone at the airport with the same man who had just assaulted her. Absolutely unbelievable and completely irresponsible.

When I asked why her safety didn’t seem to matter, the manager became defensive, threatened to have us arrested, and said he could tell police to arrest anyone he wanted when they arrived.

To make matters even worse, the police were never actually called. We were told that the police were “not allowed on this private property.” So in a moment when a young woman desperately needed real help, the resort’s stance was essentially to keep law enforcement out. Truly hope no one ever needs the police here — because according to them, they won’t be coming.

Not once did we see compassion, urgency, or basic human decency from management. Everything this young woman endured was horrifying — and the staff made it worse with their negligence and complete lack of humanity.

What we witnessed was alarming, traumatizing, and completely unacceptable. Guest safety was treated as an afterthought — if at all. I truly feel for this young woman and what she endured.

I would never return to this resort, and I cannot in good conscience recommend it to anyone.

The security is a joke- a dangerous one at that.

Also, the resort is not luxury. The food is not great, butlers are rude. The drinks were inconsistent, I expect that but not to the level we witnessed. We had dried feces from the previous person who stayed there on the wall of our bathroom that was never cleaned?? The rooms are outdated for the level of luxury they claim to be. I’ve been to Mexico over 18 times and have never truly felt in danger like I did this past time.
