Feeling awkward when my partner visits me, help?

Social Struggles

I still live with my parents.

Me and my partner have very different family lives. In her house, the whole family sits in the living room and talks to each other, whereas in my family it's very quiet, and me and my brother spend time in our rooms (this has been the case since early childhood).

I'm struggling with wanting to spend time in my room, doing my own things, whereas my partner wants to spend time in the living room, but we both feel extremely awkward being separate. I feel like I'm constantly masking, and I feel agitated that I cannot just do my own things.

My partner is here for a week and I just keep thinking about when she will go home. Honestly it's only awkward when my parents are home. This is also my partner's first time meeting my parents and us spending time in my family's home.

Does anyone have any advice? Things like these make me wish I was single, because I just want to be alone.
