Hearing Aids for SSHL

I got a new hearing aid for my ssshl ear went from profound to moderate loss with 4000 and 8000 at 60. My question is I have 80% word score but voices can be robotic or off.

This is what makes me wonder: My relative in his 70 has a similar hearing loss in both ears but seems to be just fine using two hearing aids. One ear lost f st one hearing due to chickenpox virus years ago and he has age related loss.

Do people with age related hearing loss have less damage than sshl even if they have similar audiogram. One answer I got looking online is are related loss purely hair cells but other stuff can also degrade over time.
