Need of seniors advice! regarding course change

I’m a fresher who chose civil engineering only for my parents’ sake. I got an 11k rank in VITEEE and had previously secured IISER Kolkata, but due to family pressure, I opted for civil without any real interest. Now I’m at the start of my 2nd semester. In my 1st semester, I performed poorly, and I’m considering switching to mechanical or mechatronics. If I managed around a 7.5 CGPA in the 1st semester, could I raise it to around 9 by the end of the 2nd semester? Or should I withdraw and join mechatronics next year? This is urgent—any advice from seniors?
