I don’t know who needs to hear this, but do the meal prep
TLDR: after years of feeling consumed with my weight, i started meal prepping and have already lost 2.5kg in 3 weeks - feeling more hopeful than ever!
Food and my body have been such an all consuming part of my brain for the past 5 years. I gained 15kgs of love chub in the first 3 years of my relationship and Ive spent 3 years trying to get it off. I have struggled with my relationship with food since i was a teenager so I knew I needed to fix my mindset but I just had no idea where to start.
2 years ago I went to see a dietician in hopes they could help me lose some weight while improving my relationship with food. The dietician practically put me on keto without calling it that (i cut out all forms of starch), and I personally didn’t like it. I did lose a fair amount of weight but I was hungry and tired all the time and i felt it made my relationship with food much worse. Since then I slowly gained back the weight and have just been focusing on exercise. I have always loved exercise so luckily it was a good habit i already had. But I knew that exercise is only half the battle, and if I wanted to lose weight I had to fix my relationship with food.
I joined a 28 day “Be Her Now” challenge (look up Aylish Finesilver on insta shes great) and its basically like a healthy mindset challenge. at the beginning she encouraged everyone to set a goal for the 28 days and mine was to meal prep. Tbh I wouldnt even call it a “challenge” because its literally just been the delight of my life. Every day she posts a new voice note for about 15-20 mins about something to do with mindset. She talks about topics like guilt, resistance, accountability etc and i find it all really insightful. Anyways, my goal was to prep all my meals for work and i feel like its changed the game. Ive only been in the challenge 3 weeks and Ive lost 2.5kg. My running has also improved dramatically and I just feel so positive about food for the first time in so long. I look forward feeling prepared for the week and my meal prep are delicious but simple. I dont feel hungry and i dont get stressed when i have to eat something thats not in the meal prep because I know I got another meal ready when I get home.
I really felt like weight loss had to be hard in order to actually work and of course it requires effort but I’m just here to tell you it can actually be fun if you go about it the right way. I am feeling a lot more positive about the journey ahead and I feel like my goal is actually possible 😊
