Got my iPhone 17 Pro Max in mid October and had the Belemay arrive weeks before. One week after the phone arrived, I ordered the Lonli Edition. My plan with the iPhone 17 was to go without a screen protector since the new phone has a better screen with AR coating. While I liked the look and feel of the Belemay, my only concern was that without a screen protector it felt like you had to “dig into” the phone to reach the corners. This was especially noticed when swiping up. This is why I ordered the Lonli. Initially I liked the feel of the Lonli because it had a lower lip and allowed me to work with it not using a screen protector.

When I compare the two, the leather is definitely softer on the Lonli. I find the Lonli has more of a squishy feel to the leather especially on the sides giving it almost a “fake leather” feel. This almost give is a larger feel when the iPhone Pro Max is already a larger phone. On the Belemay it has softened with use and darkened a bit but it still has a sort of cardboard texture. For hand feel I prefer the Belemay Veg Tan as it just sits right in the hand. Belemay also wins for the fit and finish. While both cases are tight fitting, the area around the camera plateau on the Lonli has lint from the inner liner visible and even has separated in a few places. The camera control button on the Belemay is spot on, while on the Lonli Edition the button slides and is more clicky almost as though it is loose.

I did reach out to Lonli about thier case and in full disclosure they did refund my purchase. For customer service they are amazing and I’m assuming I just got a bad case. Once I put a screen protector on the phone, I found the Belemay was much better. Long winded to say I can’t really recommend either fully. If you’re looking for a nice fitting and looking case that won’t break the bank, then get the Belemay. I can’t recommend the Lonli at all. Being in Canada some of the bigger names are out of the price range when shipping or import fees are added on. I did order the Tekmomo and it arrives this week. I have a sneaking suspicion that it will be my go to. The long and short of it, if you’re looking for the best of the cheapest, you’ll never be fully satisfied. On my 15 Pro Max I had tried a few cases from Luckycoin, but my first case was the Keyway in the whiskey colour and that remained my go-to for two years, my hope is that the Tekmomo case will be that go-to.
