Is allowing multiple subtitle tracks too much to ask?
Why are subtitle so hard to work with? What are we doing here, Davinci? Everything else is track-based with no issues or limitations. Yet, we get handcuffed when trying to work with multiple subtitles since you're only allowed one track enabled at a time. I'm 10min into googling how to use "subtitle regions" (again) because I've forgotten how and it's not straight forward (it's really just multiple subtitle tracks with extra steps). JUST LET US USE MULTIPLE TRACKS.
First, you need to create a subtitle region (a mini track on a track). Oh and you're limited to 4 regions, named R1, R2, R3, R4.
Once you smash them all in there so they're all squeezed nice and tight, you can simply drag or copy&paste your existing subtitles to that new region, right? WRONG.
You have to right click the subtitle you want to move and select which region you want to move it to...right? WRONG AGAIN.
You have to select the subtitle, go over to the inspector and check the corresponding region you want the subtitle to appear in...surely... NOPE. Go fish!
You select the new region you've made first and then generate subtitles again (with a horrible AI that gets timing wrong all the time, so forget all the fixes you've already made). When you go to Timeline > AI Tools > Create Subtitles from Audio..., you...won't find any new magical drop-down to select which region you want them created on...
When I right-click on either region of the track, I'm met with only being able to edit/rename R1. Not quite sure where to right click to hit R2 but I can clearly see it's there.
At this point, you question your life choices that led you to choosing Davinci Resolve over Adobe. But then you remind yourself of the money you're saving from not needing a subscription (although it's offset by your new therapist). So you commit and turn to the internet for answers, but subsequently write a slightly spicy reddit post when you come up empty handed.
