First photo is Octopus Fluids Phoenix (a beautiful gold-sheening red) just to protect against accidental spoilers.

I’m lagging behind everyone else since I do one Inkvent bottle on the weekends rather than daily, but it does give me extra time to do my doodles! So here’s what I did for the first two days of Diamine and Colorverse Inkvent.

The first two are pretty sparse; I was actually taking inspiration from some of the patterns used for decoration on Dutch Sprinter trains. I used a Brause dip pen nib for one, and I probably won’t do that again because honestly, I do not have the patience for all that dipping, even on a sparse sketch like that!

Day 1 Diamine: Celestial Skies set the bar incredibly high! What a gorgeous ink. I immediately filled my entire converter with it so I could keep enjoying it with journaling and notes. So pretty. Diamine is going to have a hard time keeping this one in stock when the full size bottles are released!

Day 1 Colorverse: Martian Dust seemed kind of meh on first glance (especially following on the heels of Celestial Skies), but it grew on me while sketching. It’s hard to describe, is it maroon, brown, burgundy, umber, what exactly? But it’s got some good depth to it. Would be interesting to see how it does in a sunlight fade test…

Day 2 Diamine: Energy didn’t speak to me right away. It’s so super sheeny that the poor purple just kind of disappears, except in the brushed-on part. Maybe it would be prettier in a dryer pen so the purple has a fairer chance of showing up.

Day 2 Colorverse: Apollon also didn’t speak to me right away but as soon as I started doodling it started to catch my attention. This Sheaffer school pen has a nail of a firm, fine nib, but still writes reasonably wet for me, and I think it shows up well for a yellow. Plus there’s a pleasing darker shading when there’s more ink laid down. This one is probably not going to be an ink I frequently reach for, but if I’m in a sunshiny kind of mood it’ll be a nice choice.

See you in a month or so with Day 3-4 sketches, or just whenever I get around to it. The great part about ink-a-week Inkvent is there is absolutely zero pressure to be on time! 😜
