Know your limits!

NSFWSpoiler#DangerousDriving ⚠️

I went out for a ride today early morning. The roads i usually take are wide 3 lane roads and since it was 5 in the morning, traffic was very very light. I was riding at 100 and wearing full gear. Suddenly, 2 dudes on a pulsar start racing me. They have no gear, just some gloves and helmet with the rider’s phone mounted on it.

Now i know these roads like the back of my hand as i have been riding on them for 10 years now. Not sure if these dudes knew this road. They looked like locals though.

A speed breaker comes, i slow down, the pulsar dude couldn’t. Next thing i see is his rear tyre up in the air, the pillion in the air, and i can tell he pulled in the clutch and slammed that rear brake, because his rear wheel locked up!

But God had other plans for them. He somehow released the rear brake in time and managed to gain back traction. He avoided colliding with an SUV by mere inches (God bless that drives, he slammed his brakes in time). He was so scared, his hands and legs were shaking. They both stopped at a safe place to get some air. I pulled up beside them, checked if they were fine, and only left when they were a little relaxed.

Now, the reason for posting this is, I see a lot of new riders on this sub. So a word of advice, please learn progressive braking! That technique is your best friend in situations like these. And most importantly, please ride according to your capabilities. Your ego is not worth your life! Just because i am in full gear and riding a bigger bike, doesn’t mean i want to race.

Also, i cannot shake that scene out of my head! I have seen a lot of accident vids on this sub, but seeing in irl, man it just scares you. Heck, i got nervous looking at them. God forbid, if something would have happened, i would blame myself too because they were going at very fine speeds until they saw me.
