help whatsapp is not opening

i just tried to install whatsapp on my laptop for the first time(!) and everything seemed to go correctly, except for when i try to open the damn app nothing happens. i checked task manager and no process is happening, there's no error message, nothing. i'm pissed off because the only reason i need the desktop version is for school but it won't work. i tried multiple fixes but nothing worked. i'm on windows 10.
