Am I Overreacting for cutting contact after a girls trip
Am I (F23) Overreacting for cutting contact after a girls trip.
4 months ago I went to a girls trip in Europe with 2 girls my age. One of them is my friend of 15 years and the other is a friend of her. The trip involved travelling with my friend's car for 14h, so we split driving between us and between 2 days.
We had a plan for each day, but I understood that the trip will not be what it promised to be, when I got taken over after just 2h of driving and was not really let to drive again (maybe I just don't drive well, but the car was new and I didn't know what all the buttons were, maybe it stressed her out), and we took a very long time in each tank station. It was not an issue, but I thought we would want to get to destination quicker so we would have the time to see the city we will sleep in.
When we arrived to our first stop, all they wanted to do was to relax and watch netflix, I broke our rule of not splitting up, when I went on a walk alone (with location tracker on).
It continued, they took very long to get up, were complaining about walking so much, wanted to spend a lot in the shops, while I wanted to explore and walk, I got blaimed for my high energy and that I "don't love myself", because I thought it is normal to walk 15k steps a day during a vacation, especially because it was above 25C degrees. I would've been fine walking by myself, and one evening I did, but we had our "not splitting up rule".
We didn't do half of what we scheduled to do, I understood that I just choose the wrong people to travel with but there were 2 events that really threw me off.
- Commenting on my taste in men
One evening we spend time at a bar, I had broken up some months ago and they thought it would be fun to scroll tinder. I agreed, but they were judgying man by their faces and critiquing their looks. I really dislike judging people by things they cannot control, so I said that they can do it, but I won't be participating. They started to talk about how I don't know how to use tinder and that I need to look for good looking guys, and it explains my choice in men.
I asked what men... because I had only had 2 boyfriends:
*one was with a 21yo while I was 14yo and it lasted 4 years, which I now see it as a veru unequal and unfair relationship;
*the other was my ex, 5 years older than me with a stable income, great physique, smart and trustworthy.
My friend started talking trash about my ex, which I disagreed with, because I broke up because of how he acted towards me not because I think he himself is horrible. And that I don't think my earlier relationship counts, because I was groomed. She disagreed, saying that 14yo is mature enough and that she herself had told me to break up with him. I really disliked her saying that, and her friend sided with her. When I pushed that "I was 14", they stuck with their opinion. To be honest, it made me wanna leave the trip then and there.
- Fight about leaving time
The last evening we talked about when we have to wake up to leave, I asked if we could leave at 8am (we had 7h drive ahead of us) , because the next day I had first day at a new uni for masters and first day returning to work after 6 month break. She really wanted to leave at 9am. I insisted on leaving 8am, saying that it's important for me to be home at reasonable time.
We had a fight and she refussed to bend, saying that she struggles with getting up early, it's her vacation and she wants to rest, that it is her car and all the responsibility is on her, because the ensurance covers damage only when she is driving (which I didn't know, because she was responsible about the car and I thought the ensurance will cover us all, because we all were sharing driving, well less me, they didn't let me drive much) and that she always have to look at what we are doing when driving. I offered to drive in the morning, but that still was not enough. It all ended with leaving at 9am, we were home early at the end, because she drove the whole way, didn't even eat, we made 2 quick stops and that's it.
-----
I have not talked to her after the trip and it has been 3 months. I am guessing she wants an apology from me, because I was not "looking like I enjoy the trip" and ruined the end of it by the fight. But my issue is with the fact she blamed me for grooming, she probably doesn't even know it hit me so much, but I don't know if it's even worth to talk about. So I am overreacting to end 15 year long friendship after that 1 comment about my relationship at 14.
