Phone call “trend”???

This has been happening all week at my store. We’ll get a phone call from a customer and it’s a different person each time. Sometimes a man, sometimes a woman. The call usually goes like this - Customer asks if we have a certain body care scent. Then they ask what it comes in (lotion, cream, spray, etc). Then they ask about another scent and what it comes in several more times. At first I thought it was just someone unfamiliar with our brand and what we carry but like I said, the calls were happening all week, many times a day. Then the callers started asking strange things like specifics on ingredients and what the packaging looks like in detail, after asking about the scents in stock and what forms it came in. The calls weren’t exactly the same each time but they all seemed oddly similar enough that several of us in the store taking the calls began to think this was weird, like yesterday we had it happen about 10-12 times. Time of day doesn’t seem to matter or how busy we are. Anyone else getting this at their stores? What could be the reason behind this? Normally I wouldn’t question an odd phone call but that many times in one day, seems strange.
