When my friend asked me if she should get this for me from Dubai, I was in two minds. Now, I’m not a fan of Kayali Yum Pistachio Gelato; it’s too soapy and woody-powdery. I like Khair Pistachio, but that, again, is not a true gourmand pistachio.

That’s when I sought out reviews of these on Fragrantica, and opinions on the chat. What I read nudged me towards going for it and I decided to take one for the team.

It starts off as slightly salty, sweet-nutty, then gets to a nutty-nutty phase that’s shockingly… nutty. Think crisp, roasted pistachios; that’s what comes out a few minutes after the first spray. And that left me wondering if I’d made a mistake blind-buying this.

But an hour or so later, it gets creamier. Think of one of those tall glasses of yummy pista milkshake. Or, rich, creamy pista kulfi. This was when I fell in love with this fragrance. Coconut is listed, but it’s very faint for me, and thankfully so, because that’s not a note that works well with my skin.

In the drydown, the nuttiness is completely gone. What remains is a slightly powdery, creamy, lactonic and chocolate-y vanilla kissed with fragrant crumbs of pistachio.

Lasts only about 5 hours, but I’m hoping for that to improve as my bottle sits. Doesn’t project much as of now; just about an arm’s length.

Conclusion: Yeah, I’ll say it: I like this better than Khair Pistachio. And definitely more than Kayali 33. No florals, no soapy or woody notes, this is an out and out gourmand fragrance, the pistachio I’ve been craving ever since I had the first whiff of Kayali YPG.
If you like the sound of a nutty, creamy, rich, thick, milky pistachio-vanilla, it’s worth a try.
