Do you ever feel like you are not good enough?
rowing up, I’ve always struggled with this quiet, persistent feeling that I’m just… average. I’m not exceptionally good at anything, not the type of person who stands out. Sometimes I even feel like I’m below average, because whenever I look around, it seems like everyone else has a clear talent, passion, or something they’re naturally known for — and I don’t.
I’ve never been particularly good at studies, or sports, or even presenting myself confidently. I’m also not especially good-looking, and within my group of friends, I’m usually the quieter one — the one people don’t really notice or pay much attention to.
It’s like I kept waiting for that one thing I’d be naturally good at, something that would finally make me feel special, but it never came. And over time, that made me doubt myself. It made me feel small. I started to believe that maybe I’m just not meant to shine in any particular area… and that thought is really hard to shake off.
This feeling became even stronger after I entered the workforce a year ago. As a junior employee, I can’t help comparing myself with the people who joined at the same time as me, or even with my senior colleagues. And when I see how capable, confident, or well-rounded they seem, I just feel shitty about myself all over again. It makes me wonder:
How can I be putting in so much effort, but still not feel good at anything?
Anyone else ever feel this way?
