Was disrespected by in laws

Am I wrong ? My brother in law yelled at me over a year ago drunk , called me a b, the c word and a devil . All in public with family around . I left crying . I didn’t start any drama that day , he was drunk and pissed off . We haven’t spoken to him since as he refuses to apologize . He later sent him multiple text messages calling me trash and saying no one liked me and to ditch me

This year husband just bought him a huge GI JOE action figure, a reminder of their childhood . Am I wrong to be like wTF? Yes it is his brother and he can buy whatever gifts he wants , but I don’t think I could buy my sister a gift if the roles were reversed
