Hi guys. I am a recent and second-time owner of F-91W, and am throughly enjoying wearing it again as my daily driver after some 10 years. I was using the F-91W during my military service and seized the opportunity to try other watches (Seikos, Garmin, AWU and other iconic Casios) when the lug broke during a minor mishap.

It was in this sub that I learnt of F-84W’s existence. As I was researching more about it, I noticed that almost every post/article/video I encountered that compares the 91 with 84 derived at the same conclusion; F-91W is fantastic, but F-84W takes the cake as it is aesthetically more retro and a tad more comfortable on the wrist.

Intrigued, I ordered a F-84W directly from Japan, and have been wearing it almost daily for the past 1 week. This is what I have to say about my experience with the JDM model.

The F-84W does carry the vintage look well with the irregular octagon face and the stripped design on its straps, and is aesthetically more appealing the F-91W,

BUT

It does not feel as comfortable on my wrist the way F-91W does.

The thin straps are too thin even on my slender 7.5 inch wrist, and the thickness of the strap somewhat makes the skin on which it is sitting on sweat. The supposedly leaner mass of the watch feels somewhat too light and airy. It just feels like a weird combination of many things yet nothing…small, light, thin yet quite uncomfortable.

I understand that I can swap the straps for something else given the lug width is the same as the 91, but the strap too adds to the vintage vibe of the watch.

In conclusion, I think that the G.O.A.T F-91W will be my daily driver. While I do not regret getting the F-84W, I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in growing their collection.

What’s your thought on my take?
