MLSS/MLVSS with known organic contamination

I have an industrial activated sludge plant that continuously suffers from cellulose fiber contamination entering the aeration tanks. Not feasible to eliminate the fiber, and RAS pumps are oversized enough I think it should be manageable. The problem is, we can't trust our MLSS numbers because of it. Any recommendations on how to judge when to waste?
