Arm chair psychology- To the self-proclaimed avoidant experts:

Is this fun for you?

Come on here read all the hurt.

You've went through it once? I assume that's why you're here?

I’ve been on the receiving end of a few discards. This last one got picked apart to shit by people. I was in love. I was vulnerable. And it hurts. Like, gut-wrenching, soul-crushing hurt. I don’t care how many “attachment style” threads you’ve read or how many avoidant memes you’ve liked—you cannot begin to understand what it’s like to be left like that unless you’ve lived it.

Yet somehow, every time someone posts here sharing their pain, a handful of people swoop in wearing their “avoidant badge of honor,” acting like they are spokespersons for all avoidants. They analyze, dissect, and armchair-psychologize every word, as if their casual internet research makes them experts on the emotional fallout of a real breakup.

Here’s the thing: a full discard sucks. It doesn’t matter if the person doing it is avoidant, anxious, or whatever. It’s devastating if you’re in love. It’s not a fun thought experiment. It’s not some “well, they’re avoidant so it’s okay” checklist. It’s real trauma.

Reading your little essays about why “avoidants do this because xyz” doesn’t make the pain go away. It doesn’t justify the hurt. And speaking for all avoidants as if you’re the attachment style messiah is… honestly, kind of insulting.

So please, next time: maybe just listen. Empathize. Don’t weaponize your internet-acquired knowledge of attachment theory to dismiss or lecture someone who just got their heart broken.
