What One Comment Revealed About Our Journey
“Leche, palibhasa may pera kayo.”
(***, just because you have money)
(Leche is milk, but in the PH it's use more of a curse word)
A comment we recently received.
It’s a phrase that carries more than frustration—
it reflects a deep-rooted mindset we Filipinos know too well: crab mentality.
When someone tries something different…
when someone leaves to chase a better life…
when someone steps outside the limitations others feel trapped in…
the instinct is to pull them down.
But here’s the truth:
Leaving the Philippines wasn’t about being “mayaman.” (rich) and we even said in the video that we're not. (https://youtu.be/ewnAF41X1Nw?si=NzdlO...)
It wasn’t about bragging, escaping responsibilities, or looking down on anyone.
It was about trying.
About choosing growth, even when it’s scary.
About building a life we once thought was impossible.
If there’s something I wish more people understood, it’s this:
someone else’s progress isn’t a personal attack.
Someone else’s courage isn’t an insult.
And someone else’s success doesn’t reduce yours.
We share our story not to flex,
but to remind anyone who feels stuck:
you’re allowed to dream beyond your zip code.
And if you try… even just try… you might surprise yourself.
Crab mentality has never built a future for anyone.
But support, encouragement, and inspiration?
Those can build entire generations.
