Sharing the Word With an Athiest
So I have a friend who is really struggling. We have known each other a couple years. Met in our recovery group.
Loathes religion and any idea of God. Has an especially strong disdain for Jesus.
He has some major health issues, and a physical handicap as a result. Has kind of become a shut in. I feel in my heart he would benefit from accepting God’s grace in his life.
I’d really like to have a conversation or invite him to church without sounding condescending or manipulative.
Revisiting my childhood faith and bringing Gods grace into my life has truly worked wonders on both my addiction and mental health. He’s still sober but suffering and tormented. We are both gay, and I think his past trauma with Christianity is a barrier for him. I attend a gay affirming church with really amazing people of all walks of life.
Should I let him be or try to share this amazing faith with him? I don’t want to scare him away and don’t talk about my faith with him as I don’t want him to be further alienated, as I’d like to keep in touch because I do have concerns about him.
