That’s Mom’s job
That’s Mom’s job. That’s what my husband said to my kid last evening when they begged to put the tree up.
He then patted himself on the back for getting the outdoor decorations done yesterday and how he did his job all by himself.
But it doesn’t occur to him that he got to do his job all by himself only because I took the kids out of the house for 4 hours while he did that.
And he got to do his job, well rested, while I was up with one of the kids at 3:45am the day before and struggling get the same kid to sleep until 11pm last night then stayed up after that to wash the dishes. select and buy the kids’ Christmas presents, move the elf, responded back to another parent who is organizing a holiday party for the kids.
And he got to do his job with a nice clean yard, because I found and hired someone to come do the yard work this year, because he got a promotion where he has to travel more and he also has been trying to go visit his parents a few times a year to help his Dad.
I did try to get the decorating I just wanted to get the house clean and organized before decorating. But the kids had a snow day on my day off this week, which is the only non-work, kid-free time I have. I worked most of Thanksgiving break, but the kids were off.
It’s just so infuriating to have him turn around and dunk on me in front of the kids like I’m some slacker and bragging on himself, but there’s never any recognition for what I do everyday. No thanks for taking the kids out so he could get that done. Nope instead I’m a failure for not being able to clean and decorate the whole inside of a house while also taking the kids out for the day. I guess I was just supposed to pull some Christmas magic out of my asshole.
And next week he is traveling for work which they just decided on Friday evening. In the middle of mother fucking December.
